Tess Barbato

Tess Barbato was born and raised in Port Jefferson, NY, a town on the north shore of Long Island. After earning her Associate’s Degree in Art from Suffolk County Community College, she attended Plymouth State University where she earned her Bachelor’s of Fine Art degree in Painting.

Tess is an American realist oil painter, whose work is conceptually driven. Her main subject is food in its raw form. She aims to help define the disconnection between the viewers and the food they eat, as well as how our diets impact the environment.

From a very young age Tess had an attraction to art and how it allows her to communicate effectively. Living with dyslexia has been an extreme obstacle in her life but through her realistic renderings she is able transform this affliction into one of her greatest advantages. Many of her relatives are also artists, including her grandfather, aunt and mother.

Tess is currently working out of her in-house studio in Boston. Her most recent showing was the 23rd International Juried Exhibition at Viridian Artists Inc. in New York City. Her work also received an Honorable Mention from the Gallore Gallery’s 2012 Junk or Genius International Exhibition. Her work is on display at Odyssey Stoneware, in Brewster, Mass.
