A Conversation with artist Daniel Fiorda – Finissage Reception- Present and Forgotten – Metal Box Series Exibition

Daniel Fiorda
On the occasion of the finissage of the exhibition “Present and Forgotten”, artist Daniel Fiorda will have an informal conversation with visitors about his work. Art lovers, collectors, colleagues and friends are welcome to join us this Saturday March 16th at 6pm at The ArtLink Gallery for an encounter of questions and answers. Daniel will talk about his motivations, references and the working process behind the works on display and his path from standing sculptures to wall sculptures.
Conversation starts at 7pm.
Wine and Hors D’Oeuvre
The collection of works created by Daniel Fiorda remained, for years, hiding in plain sight amid the multitude of objects that populate his studio: forgotten yet present, this work, never before exhibited together, has been seen by few. This series of wall metal sculptures, created between 2007 and 2008, allows finding a representation of chaos and transitions to a contemplative arrangement using primary forms, rectangles, squares, perfect or irregular shapes, to dwell in meditation. And while these objects resemble ancient mandalas, unlike the ephemeral creations of Buddhist monks, Fiorda’s solid, blunt pieces strike you right at the center. These vivid, colorful sculptures take viewers into a journey through time and inward exploration.

In other pieces, Fiorda approaches objects from our daily lives as anthropological findings of a recent past. This faux-archeological evidence of our civilization is composed of prosaic objects (like cell phone parts, switches, old tools, screws, etc.), that lead to a reflection upon our lives, our fleeting place in the history of the world, and our sense of existence.
